A control plane serves as the "brain" of a system: governing policy, orchestrating workflows, managing configuration, and ensuring reliable operations—without directly moving the data itself. Just as air traffic control coordinates aircraft while pilots fly them, the control plane provides oversight, automation, safety, and order, while the data plane executes the actual work.
APS Worksharing Control Tower applies this paradigm to Autodesk Cloud Worksharing—introducing centralized governance, orchestration, automation intelligence, and platform-grade reliability for Worksharing operations at scale.
This work builds on efforts established at the Autodesk Platform Services (APS) Developer Accelerator in Denver (Nov 2025), where the foundation for scalable Revit Cloud Worksharing automation was developed. The accelerator provided hands-on coaching, reference patterns, and architecture reviews that de-risked the Design Automation workflow and sped up production readiness.
The APS Accelerator environment—supported by the APS Dev. Advocate Team—enabled the collaboration, architectural refinement, and technical direction that made this platform possible.
Zhong Wu, APS Dev. Advocate, inspired by the need to automate the migration of files from BIM 360 to ACC, developed the codebase around the Autodesk Design Automation API and asynchronous Node.js architecture, establishing the foundational patterns for cloud-based Revit automation.
Moses Scott extended this foundation by architecting the control plane infrastructure, integrating real-time orchestration, database-driven state management, and enterprise-grade monitoring to create a production-ready platform for large-scale Revit Cloud Worksharing operations.
