Overview
The APS Control Tower is an automation platform for migrating and managing Revit Cloud Worksharing projects between BIM 360 and Autodesk Construction Cloud (ACC). It provides capabilities for:
- Migrating non-Revit collateral files (PDFs, DWGs, documents)
- Publishing latest Revit worksharing changes
- Testing Revit file upgrades without permanent changes
- Performing production Revit file upgrades to newer versions
System Requirements
- Valid Autodesk account with access to BIM 360 or ACC
- Appropriate permissions on source and destination projects
- ACC Docs provisioning for this application (see below)
- Modern web browser (Chrome, Edge, Firefox)
ACC Provisioning Required
Before using this application, you must provision your ACC account:
- Sign in to ACC Account Admin
- Navigate to Settings → Custom Integrations
- Click "Add Integration"
- Select "ACC Account Administration" and "ACC Docs"
- Enter the APS Client ID provided by your administrator
- Save the integration
Capabilities
1. Move Collateral
Migrates non-Revit files from BIM 360 to ACC while preserving folder structure.
- Copies PDFs, DWGs, documents, spreadsheets, etc.
- Automatically skips existing files/folders
- Preserves original folder hierarchy
- Does not migrate Revit (.rvt) files
2. Publish Latest
Publishes all pending Revit worksharing changes before upgrading.
- Ensures cloud models reflect latest changes
- Required before file upgrades to prevent data loss
- Processes all selected files/folders
3. Test Upgrade
Tests Revit file upgrades in a safe, read-only environment.
- Opens and upgrades files without saving changes
- Captures warnings and errors
- Validates upgrade compatibility
- Does not modify source files
4. Final Upgrade
Performs production Revit file upgrades to target version.
- Upgrades files to specified Revit version (2024, 2025, 2026)
- Creates new versions in destination project
- Processes up to 5 files at a time (current limitation)
- Permanent operation - cannot be undone
Security & Privacy
- Uses Autodesk Platform Services (APS) OAuth for secure authentication
- No passwords stored - token-based access only
- Whitelisted user access control
- All data transfers encrypted via HTTPS
- Sessions expire automatically
Important Limitations
- Maximum 5 files per upgrade operation
- Files must be Revit Cloud Worksharing models
- Requires proper source/destination permissions
- Design Automation API has rate limits
- Large files may take significant processing time
Best Practices
- Always backup projects before migration
- Test on small sample sets first
- Run "Test Upgrade" before "Final Upgrade"
- Publish latest changes before upgrading
- Verify results after each operation
- Monitor progress logs for warnings/errors
- Coordinate with team to avoid conflicts
Troubleshooting
Access Denied: Ensure your email is whitelisted and ACC account is provisioned.
No Projects Visible: Check provisioning and project permissions.
Upgrade Fails: Verify source files are valid Revit models and published.
Timeout Errors: Large files may exceed processing limits - try smaller batches.
